In 1998, when I heard that Bloomsday is celebrated all over the world, I wondered, “Why can’t we celebrate it here in New Mexico?” I put up notices at the two colleges in Santa Fe and at local businesses; asked friends and family to participate, and we had a small, but fun Bloomsday celebration. I had a sign-up sheet for a Joyce reading group and Adam Harvey signed it. Adam has become well known among Joyceans for his dramatic presentation of whole chapters of Finnegans Wake. He now leads the Santa Fe Joyce group and I have moved to Albuquerque where I started another in 2006.
